Peanut Butter “Oreos”
I made these peanut butter “Oreos” a couple weeks ago. Of course, they aren’t Oreo’s at all. 1) Because Oreo is a brand name and I wouldn’t think of infringing on Nabisco’s rights. :) And 2) because these don’t use little chocolate cookies but everyday chocolate chip cookies.

I had a package of dry, store-bought chocolate chip cookies that I wanted to spruce up and make a little more exciting. So I thought to spread a little peanut butter on top of one and sit another cookie on top, Oreo-style. I guess the more proper name for this snack would be a peanut butter-chocolate chip cookie sandwich. But where is the fun in that?
The package of store-brand chocolate chip cookies were an impulse buy. I don’t like crowds so try to go grocery shopping during quieter times. But I miscalculated and I was a little cranky. My willpower didn’t stand a chance against a kick sugar fix.
I made it about half way through the package before I started to regret the purchase of those little crunchy cookies; I prefer my cookies soft and gooey. What says gooey more than creamy peanut butter? That is always a staple in my house.
- 4 2″ chocolate chip cookies
- 1 TBSP peanut butter
- Place 2 cookies upside down. Spread half of peanut butter on each one.
- Cover with remaining 2 cookies.
Check back later this week for a tip on how to bake the perfect cookie every time so you don’t have to settle for hard, dry cookies any more.
Have you ever made a cookie sandwich or a peanut butter “sandwich” with a non-traditional “bread?” What is your favorite combo?

Do they even make peanut butter oreos? What a great idea! I love oreos, there’s something about that cookie that is tempting to me. I’m not that big on PB but I do make a mean PB cup… I’ll post a recipe on Sunday on the blog.

I don’t think they make them anymore, but they used to sell one with a PB filling and dipped in chocolate.

I love this idea! I also like Deep Fried Oreos for another fattening treat!

That looks like an interesting service. Do you have plans on expanding it to allow ordinary bloggers to participate?
